On Saturday, 4 November 2017, a special event was held by Lok Virsa exclusively for the members of Harvard Club of Pakistan (HCP). The event was also open to the families and friends of HCP members and was well attended.

Dr Fouzia Saeed, Executive Director of Lok Virsa, welcomed the participants and personally gave an elaborate presentation on how Lok Virsa has been rejuvenated and made relevant to the current cultural discourse. The members were told how the interest of people of all ages and different backgrounds was revived in our traditional and folk heritage by holding regular events at more improved and refurbished facilities of Lok Virsa. The members were impressed by the amazing success Dr. Fauzia Saeed had achieved in a short span of three years as Executive Director of Lok Virsa through her passionate pursuit of its objectives of preserving and promoting our multicultural and pluralistic legacy of traditional heritage.

The audience was then enthralled by a colorful presentation of eight different regional folk dances and songs representing all regions of Pakistan. Performances included:

1. Kalash dance
2. Gilgit-Baltistan folk dance
3. Pashto folk song
4. Sindhi folk dance
5. Saraiki folk song
6. Chap folk dance
7. Punjabi folk song

Each performance showcased its local flavor of folk tradition and attired in beautiful traditional costumes, the dancers and vocalists both won the praise of entire audience with their seamless performances.

At the end of performances, Mr. Afnan Karim Kundi, President HCP, offered special thanks to Dr. Fauzia Saeed and her team in putting together such an impressive show and for their overall efforts in creating awareness about our cultural roots and the confidence it inspires in interacting with other cultures. He emphasized the need to know about and connect with our past in all respects including our culture, history and contribution in arts and sciences, etc.

The event was moderated by Mr. Qamar Abbas, Director Administration, Lok Virsa.

HCP members along with their families and friends were then given a detailed guided tour of the Heritage Museum which is one of its kind in the country. Displays presented folklore, culture, arts and history of not only different regions of Pakistan but also Central Asia, Iran, Turkey and Middle East. The participants found it thoroughly educative particularly for the information on each display provided by Ms. Nayab Kazmi of Lok Virsa who very ably conducted the tour.

All participants were then asked to proceed to the rooftop of Lok Virsa's Sharbat Point where they were entertained with Hi-tea.
